I’m a sucker for beautiful scents in products, from make up and skincare to candles and stationery, so when Chris surprised me with this aromatherapy diffuser on Christmas Eve, I was pretty damn excited to use it.
What’s more to love is the fact this ultrasonic essential oil diffuser has multiple benefits to it. Especially how you can switch between essential oils or create your own oil blends to suit your mood.
What is an ultrasonic diffuser?
According to the packaging, the Aroma-Move is an all-in-one ultrasonic aromatherapy diffuser, ioniser, humidifier and air purifier.
Ultrasonic diffusers break up essential oils into micro-particles and into water through rapid vibration and then releases a cool mist which carries lots of oxygen and negative ions into the air. This purifies, cleanses and refreshes the air in the space you use it in while the essential oils can help reduce odours caused by bacteria hiding in the fabric of your seats and carpets in your car.
The benefits of using ultrasonic diffusers include:
- Flame and heat-free aromatherapy diffusion
- Requires less essential oil to function
- Doubles as an humidifier and ioniser
How do you use the Aroma-Move?
All you have to do is twist the cover anti-clockwise to remove the cover, fill the water tank with room temperature water up to the max level indicator (see photo below), and then add 3-5 drops of your favourite essential oil, replace the lid by twisting it clockwise and feel it lock into place, plug the Aroma-Move in and then use the buttons to choose your settings. More on the settings below.
That’s the vent hole in the photo above and it’s important to avoid allowing water to enter the vent hole because it’ll damage the product. So make sure you empty any water using the opposite side where the max level indicator is!
Low/High Mist Control
Press once: Low mist mode
Press twice: High mist mode
Press three times: Turns the unit off
Intermittent/Continual Mist Mode
Press once: Intermittent mist mode
Press twice: Continual mist mode
Let’s take a look at the difference between high and low mist mode:
High mist mode produces a denser stream of mist (as above) while low mist mode produces a wispier stream of mist (see below).
I love how versatile this diffuser is where you can choose between the different mist modes for different sized areas. It fits perfectly in most standard-sized cup holders and it comes with a cigarette lighter plug so you can use it on the go.
Intermittent mist mode is also great for when you want slower release of mist to make one water tank (60mL) last longer. This mode is probably better if you’re using it in a small room or office area when you want your chosen scent to linger around without burning through the whole tank.
The fact that it humidifies and purifies air is also great, especially during the dryer months of the year. Or add a couple drops of eucalyptus or peppermint essential oils for when you have a nasty cold!
Chris bought this one in store at Perfect Potion for $74.95 AUD but you can also buy it directly from the Perfect Potion website or for even cheaper on the Lively Living website for $59.95 AUD. The Lively Living website doesn’t have much information on stockists so Perfect Potion is probably your best bet if you want to check it out in person first.
I’d recommend buying your essential oils from Perfect Potion simply because they’re certified organic, meaning you’re getting more bang for your buck. I’ve also found that a lot of essential oil suppliers dilute their oils or add other chemicals which you probably wouldn’t want to be inhaling either.
Do you use aromatherapy diffusers regularly? What are your favourite blends of essential oils? I’d particularly like to learn more about the ones that help relieve anxiety/stress if you have any recommendations! 🙂
