I can’t believe it’s the 30th of January already! What have I even done this month besides getting back into the routine of full-time work after the silly season?!
This February, I turn a quarter of a century old and it’s time for me to make some life changes, great and small. You know, the whole ‘live a better life’ she-bang!
Frankly, I’ve been wanting to stop drinking for a while now and being such a lazy, undisciplined asshole, I needed an initiative to ground and commit me to it so I wouldn’t have an excuse to stray from the task. Which is where febfast comes in!
I stumbled upon febfast while doing some research at work about youth services and organisations that commit to helping young people deal with different issues in life. But like with many things lately, I didn’t intend on committing to the initiative even though the cause is something I care deeply about, until my partner told me he’d impulsively signed up when I linked him to the febfast website.
And so now we’re ‘Team Chibi’ and we’ll both be taking a break from having a tipple for all 29 days in February 2016 while working towards becoming better versions of ourselves. I’m not sure what Chris plans to do with his extra time, but I’m going to see if I can tick off some of the activities in the Go Offline & Be Inspired workbook from Kikki K that I bought a while back.
Though, after having a quick glance at the index, there are a few items that I know I’ll be extra reluctant to do… here are a few that I don’t quite like the idea of for one reason or another:
- Leave your phone at home today
- Host a dinner party
- Remove all digital devices from your bedroom
- Post invites to your next party or event
- Stay off emails and social media
- Disconnect your wi-fi for the weekend and make do
Can you tell that I’m a) introverted and b) addicted to digital life? While they somewhat go hand in hand, it’s time I stopped using technology as my excuse to be disconnected from the people and things around me.
Some activities that I’m excited to knock off this month are:
- Get lost in your own city
- Visit an art gallery or museum
- Wander through your local markets
- Create an inspiring Vision Board
- Go outside and look up at the sky
…plus many others.
Anyway, it says that I’ve raised $57 already on my febfast page but that’s really just my own donation 😀 It will be interesting to see how much money I raise at the end of February 🙂
